Episode 6 of the Halemaʻumaʻu eruption at Kīlauea summit began at about 11:28 p.m. HST last night, January 24. At the north vent, two channels were fed by fountains at least 150 feet (50 m) high. A small dome fountain began in the south vent around 12:30 a.m. on January 25, about 1 hour after episode 6 began. Volcanic gas emissions are elevated during eruptive episodes.
